Portables: penetration rate in rise
In the jargon of marketing, penetration rate measures the cover of a market by a product or service. At the end of March 2009, while making its figures public, Arcep, Authority of the Electronic communications and the Stations, revealed a penetration rate of 90,7% for mobile telephony against 87,6% per annum last. The number of users of portables in parallel increased by 4,5%. The areas all are unfortunately not placed with the same sign as regards mobile telephony. Without surprise, the Ile-de-France, area PACA and Corsica arrive at the head with penetration rates of more than 100% whereas the Franche-Comté area, Auvergne and Brittany arrive good last in the classification with rates lower than 70%.
Use of the cellphones in France
Other figures made public by Arcep deserve to be underlined. The study of traffic SMS reveals for example an important use of the SMS by the consumers of mobile telephony. The French indeed sent not less than 13,7 billion SMS, that is to say an average of 80 textos by customer and! A figure impressing especially when it is known that it doubled in the one year space. Nevertheless, the new offers of certain operators of portables proposing of the unlimited SMS alone explain most of this growth.
