It was manufactured for Google by the Taiwanese HTC, but it is the first mobile phone entirely developed by the Californian firm, which was initially only one search engine.

Google launched out on the market of mobile telephony in 2007, after having repurchased the Android company, which gave its name to a system of expoitation partially open source, i.e. free of use by other manufacturers.

The Android system is already of use in several smartphones (HTC, Motorola… and others propose these androphones), these telephones known as intelligent which constitute from now on the ground of the battle of the mobile phone of tomorrow. Contrary at Apple, Google chose to let the other manufacturers use his system freely.
A launched challenge at Apple
The arrival of Google as such, with its financial and commercial deterrent force, is initially a launched challenge with Apple and its iPhone which conquered a choice place on the market of the smartphones, but also with the Blackberry of RIM, already shaken and which had counter-attack with new models.

The Finnish firm, always world number one with 37% of market share, but which saw its presence crumbling on the market of the American smartphones, and its competitiveness seriously called into question by the new actors.
The smartphone model of tomorrow
As with each innovation, a minority precipitates on the new products, before seeing them spreading at low price. It what occurred with the photograph, then it video, is integrated on the telephones, and which are omnipresent today. And it is what is arriving with the smartphones.
The war is from now on open between the iPhone of Apple, which currently has the image more innovating, with its thousands of ludic applications available, the Blackberry of the Canadian RIM, which preserves the market of the business men and became a symbol of recognized social status, and from now on Nexus One from Google, based on the Android system.
